A small amount of spring pressure via a lever pushes up on the chain to take about 80% of the slack out.
During deceleration, it is engineered to allow the slide block to go below the lowest point that the chain goes, keeping the chain from being overly-stressed.
During normal suspension movement, the chain gets looser and tighter. The spring lever follows each movement of the chain, mitigating the chain sloppiness without stressing the chain too much.
What is the Return Policy?
We will accept a brand-new, unused part for a refund within a reasonable timeline. If a part has already been installed on the bike or "used", then these will be handled on a case by case basis, as these would not be able to be returned under normal conditions.
If the wrong part was sent to you, and it was ordered correctly by you, we will provide a free return shipping label for either a refund or replacement. Replacements and refunds are sent out as soon as we receive the return and process it. If it is deemed that the part was ordered incorrectly or for the wrong model by the customer, then the customer will be responsible for return shipping. We will accept the part for a refund or replacement as long as it is brand new and unused.
What is the Warranty Policy?
If a part is deemed to be defective from us or is damaged during shipping, we will help out by either offering return and repair or a return for a refund.
Any damage caused by improper use, installation, or damage during riding are not covered under warranty.
Wear parts such as the chain block or slider are not covered under warranty, unless they are deemed to be defective.
This warranty policy only applies to parts sold and shipped by us. We are not an insurance company.
We are a small business so please be patient with us as we do our best to serve you. Thank you.
How fast are orders sent out?
If the item you ordered is in stock, then your order will likely be shipped out within 1-3 business days.
If the item is not in stock, please allow 7-10 business days for us to refresh stock to ship your order out.
If you have further order questions, feel free to contact us.
Does the recommended chain slack change with the Active-Tension Chain Guard installed?
No, in almost every case the OEM chain slack recommendations apply.
What's the difference between a stock chain guard and the Active-Tension Chain Guard?
A stock-style chain guard does not produce chain slack reduction whatsoever. The Active-Tension spring lever provides a light and consistent amount of upward tension to the chain help mitigate issues with the drive system of a motorcycle.
During a static test with the rear shock removed, while lifting the swingarm by hand through its full throw, the chain moves the spring lever accordingly; either up to its highest position or down to the lowest position depending where the arm is. Remember, the chain itself is either tightened or loosened during the movement of the swingarm alone as you're riding the motorcycle. This is why you must use the OEM recommended chain slack specifications and follow them carefully, so you don't bind up the rear suspension with an overly tight chain or make it susceptible to derailing from the sprockets by having too much slack.
Will the chain wear out faster with the Active-Tension Chain Guard installed?
There is a small amount of pressure pushing up on the chain from the spring lever. It is just enough to lift the weight of the chain, but not enough to bind it as the chain circles the sprockets while in motion. The benefit of lifting the chain from under the swingarm is that it reduces wear on the chain slide and the lower chain roller.
Is the Active-Tension Chain Guard hard to install?
A mechanic with a 'C' skill level, a flat blade screwdriver, and two metric wrenches can install it in a few minutes. Most anyone can install the Active-Tension Chain Guard easily enough.
Is there a break-in period once the Active-Tension Chain Guard is on the bike?
There is a slight break-in period, but the bike should be ridden as you would ride normally. Note: On the first ride, chain-created grooves will naturally appear on the front block and the spring-assisted lever. This is normal.
